Early life & Education

Dezjuan Jackson was born and raised in Oklahoma City in 1990 to the parents of Eric and Romelda Jackson, . His parents were influential to Dez because of their strong work ethic and their belief that a well-rounded education is of top priority. With that, Dezjuan excelled in school with a top-percentile grade point average which gave way to a leadership opportunity that changed his life. In High School, Dezjuan found a passion for business practices upon becoming president of DECA, a marketing and leadership group, which was key in developing his interest in entrepreneurship. This opportunity gave way to learning fundamental business concepts that would later result in finding his passion and branding his own business. Soon after high school, Dezjuan followed in his family's passion for hair, especially his grandmother, who was a licensed cosmetologist. She helped instill an appreciation for beauty and business, which inspired Dezjuan to attend and graduate the Academy of Hair Design in Oklahoma City, where he learned to master cuts, colors, and extensions. His goal was that every woman should have healthy fabulous hair and strived to work under OKC's top beauty industry professionals until he had to the opportunity to branch out and start his own company.

Developing the salon experience, creating a product line, educating Other stylists

Some might say that a brand is complete when the services they offer are giving the highest value possible. However, Dezjuan believed that offering a professional and high quality experience to ladies was just the start of a wholesome connection they develop with their salon.

As a lover of science and chemistry, Dezjuan firmly believes in all around health and beauty of the scalp and pursued complete certification in hair restoration therapy. He's always wanted his salon to have the ability to help those who have struggled with appearance altering conditions, such as cancer and alopecia, and stopped at nothing less then to be able to provide hair restoration products, high quality wigs, light therapy, and more.

In addition to an amazing salon experience, no woman is complete without the proper tools and products they need to garner a fabulous look outside of the salon. Soon after the launch of Distinctive Dezigns, the salon launched its own line of hair products and hot tools. The manufacturing and development of his self-branded product line is a big step but Dezjuan has faith that the quality and performability of his products will outshine his competitors and give ladies a fabulous new option when approaching their arsenal of beauty accessories. 

In present day, Dezjuan is platform artist, an active educator for local cosmetology schools such as Imagine Paul Mitchell Partner School in Norman, Oklahoma and many others. He loves working with new stylists, sharing his knowledge of beauty and business practice.
